This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring the safety, wellbeing and performance of our Security Officers while upholding the highest standards of visitor care and operational excellence.
As a Security Team Leader, you will play a vital part in shaping the daily experience of both staff and visitors, driving professionalism, vigilance and exceptional service across the museum.
About the Role:
As a Security Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
- Lead, motivate and support a team of Security Officers to deliver safe, effective and professional operations.
- Oversee daily security activity including patrols, access control, incident management and emergency response.
- Ensure all duties—core and ad‑hoc—are appropriately staffed through effective workforce coordination.
- Conduct performance monitoring, appraisals and regular feedback to maintain high standards.
- Support training, mentoring and development initiatives to enhance team capability and confidence.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, museum policies and risk‑management procedures.
- Promote a positive, supportive working environment that prioritises staff wellbeing.
- Balance robust security practices with excellent visitor service, ensuring a safe and welcoming experience for all.

What we are looking for:
- Proven supervisory or management experience within security, facilities or a public‑facing environment.
- Strong leadership and people‑management skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
- Solid understanding of security operations, health and safety legislation and emergency procedures.
- Excellent communication, decision‑making and conflict‑resolution abilities.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and reliability.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
- A valid front‑line SIA licence.
- Ability to travel to and from central London during unsociable hours.
