Join Our Team as a Security Team Leader
We are seeking a professional and proactive Security Team Leader to support the safe and secure operation of one of our clients, a Museum in York. This role provides on‑shift leadership to the security team, ensuring the safety of visitors, staff, contractors, and the museum's world‑class collections.
Working within both the control room and front‑line operations, you will coordinate daily security activity, manage incidents, and ensure service delivery remains compliant, customer‑focused, and professional. You will act as a key point of contact for emergency services and internal stakeholders, supporting day‑to‑day operations, public access, special events, and VIP visits.
As a Security Team Leader you will be responsible for:
- Provide on‑shift leadership to the security team, coordinating control room activity and front‑line operations
- Monitor CCTV systems and manage incidents including fire alarms, intruder alerts, medical incidents, lost children, and evacuations
- Coordinate daily tasking, patrols, staff breaks, access control, and museum lock/unlock procedures
- Manage visitor, contractor and staff access, including car park bookings and entry control
- Respond to alarms, panic alerts, lift entrapments and emergency situations in a calm and effective manner
- Ensure security officers are correctly equipped, in full uniform, and compliant with SIA and site requirements
- Liaise with emergency services and support planned events and VIP visits
- Assist with reporting, documentation, key control, patrol monitoring and alarm testing

What we are looking for:
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service in a busy public‑facing environment
- Proven ability to think and act quickly during emergencies and under pressure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear incident reporting
- Basic IT skills, with the confidence to operate CCTV and control room systems
- Calm, confident approach when dealing with members of the public and contractors
- Reliable and professional, with high standards of punctuality, attendance and personal presentation
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and supervisors
- Understanding of equality and diversity principles, with sensitivity to visitor needs
