We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health and Safety team to regularly travel across London and the south of the UK. 

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will provide professional health and safety support, taking an active and visible role within the health and safety team via site attendance, site safety meetings and other opportunities as and when they arise. You will provide advice and guidance to colleagues and support your sector Health and Safety Manager and be at the forefront of promoting the company's accident and incident reduction programme, which communicates the importance of safety reporting at all site locations through our smart health and safety reporting platform.   Please note that this role requires you to travel regularly across the London and the southern regions of the UK.

  • Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

A typical day in the life as a Health and Safety Advisor:   

  •  To conduct HSE Inspection Audits in accordance with the Schedule and to provide support where required to achieve a timely resolution of any findings.  
  • To promote the company Near Miss programme at all WJ locations ensuring our staff use the programme and understand its reason for existence.  
  • To conduct regular audits of WJ tools & equipment, and hired equipment, to ensure compliance with statutory legislation and suitability for the tasks intended. 
  • To provide advice on HSE related matters to WJ staff, and other stakeholders, when required or when you see fit. 
  • To support other HSE-related activities when required e.g. new site mobilisations, events. 

What are we looking for?  

  • The ability to travel regularly across London and the southern regions of the UK
  • CSCS card
  • Fully qualified NEBOSH Health & Safety Certification  in construction
  • Proven experience within the Health and Safety sector  
  • Excellent IT Skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in Outlook, Word & Excel  
  • Able to travel regularly around the UK to our other sites  
  • Environmental Awareness    
  • DBS check - or able to pass one if not already obtained

Desirable   

  • Membership of IOSH  
  • Recognised Environmental qualification  
  • First Aid at Work certificate  
  • Knowledge of working as a Security Services provider
